They’ve been keeping it on the D/L ‘til now: Beth’s Cafe, Aurora Avenue North’s beloved greasy spoon, has new owners. Biz partners Tim Crawley and Mason Reed bought the diner a few weeks ago, and the transfer of power was made official on January 1.

Located on a bustling stretch of Aurora Avenue adjacent to Green Lake, the diner walls are adorned with hundreds of hand-drawn pictures. Beth's Cafe has been an institution in this city since 1954. It started as a nickel slots gambling parlor before morphing into what owner Mason Reed describes as something akin to a punk rock Wafflehouse.
